Profile of Sales Manager

The Sales Manager will be responsible for coordinating the regional operations of EI. This position involves significant responsibility and high level of target orientation. The current product portfolio of EI includes ASSET - a diagnostic test, Teacher Training, and Curriculum Services.

EI’s main initiative is ASSET- a diagnostic skill-based test that measures “understanding” and provides detailed feedback to children from class 3 to 10 about what their academic strengths and weaknesses are. Over 1.5 lakh students from over 700 schools across India, Middle East, Singapore and Nepal are taking ASSET every year. With a database of 10 million student responses, ASSET is a unique repository of the state of learning in India today.

In terms of teacher training and Curriculum Services there is a tremendous scope for growth which needs to be tapped.

Job Description

Interacting and building relationships with School Principals, Management and Teachers to create and service the demand for EI offerings.
Building a team of Educational Advisors who will be the front line of the sales effort.
Inspiring, leading and coordinating the team to evolve into partners working towards a common goal of school improvement with the school management.
Take ASSET into the next stage of product growth through penetration in schools of small cities and towns.
Coordinate with SBU Heads of different products and services to ensure Maximum geographical reach and coverage.

2. Educational Advisors (Commission-based Sales Executives)- Freelance basis in any town in India

Job Description

Building a list of schools in your town/ city, periodically visiting them and making presentations regarding ASSET and Teacher Training Programs offered by EI to schools.
Coordinating between the Schools that sign up with EI to ensure smooth progress of the assessment test, teacher training programs, competitions and other activities. This would involve as an example - collection of lists of participating students, ensuring question papers reach schools, collection of answer sheets and distributing analysis to the schools.
Following-up on activities conducted in schools and get feedback from students and teachers. This would help EI identify new opportunities that EI can service in the schools.
Reporting on a regular basis to the Relationship Manager of your region.
The Regional Manager will assist you and will be available for any training, guidance and support you might need to perform your role effectively.

Good communication skills and an attitude of accepting challenges.
University Professors with an orientation towards School Education preferred.
Homemakers who have worked previously and who can devote upto 4 hours a day have been very successful as Advisors.

3. Educational Specialists

EI is looking for Educational Specialists in Science and Maths. We are looking for a person who is good at the subject and has a passion to make a difference in Science/ Maths learning at the school level. The role is intellectually highly engaging and involves the following tasks:

Building simple but discerning questions that check whether a child has really understood!
Building “Teacher Sheets”- focused 1 page notes that highlight a misconception based on assessment data, and provide teachers tips to address the same
Analyzing large scale student response data to figure out how children think and learn
Working on creating new products and services based on the above research that can measurably demonstrate improved learning in children and may transform the way children learn in the future. (One such product we have launched recently in called Mindspark. Check out www.mindspark.in)

4. Teacher Trainers

Educational Initiatives’ mission is to significantly improve the quality of learning in schools the world over by developing innovative, research-based products.

India has a large number of teachers and principals (the practitioners) and it has educational experts (the theorists) - but it probably lacks a layer of educational technologists (those who understand the theory, try it out in practice and modify it). These educational technologists marry a good understanding of theory with a bias for action. EI attempts to provide that layer for India’s educational system.

Apart from ASSET, teacher training is the significant initiative taken up by Educational Initiatives. EI needs full-time and part time trainers in Ahmedabad, Baroda and other metros. Some trainer positions require travel to conduct workshops in different schools across the country.

11. State Co-ordinators – Google Project

Educational Initiatives Pvt. Ltd. (EI) (an IIMA alumni effort), is South Asia’s leading Assessment Organisation and is formed with a vision to create a world where children everywhere are learning with understanding. EI focuses exclusively on assessment and learning outcomes measurement in school education. EI has created and administers ASSET, India’s largest diagnostic assessment test. EI also conducts large scale benchmarking assessments working closely with government schools, NGOs, and agencies like UNICEF, the World Bank and the Dell Foundation.
EI, along with Google Org., USA has embarked on a first-of-its-kind, ambitious and complex exercise to measure learning levels of government school children across 21 Indian states. The project involves assessment of student achievement in classes 4, 6 and 8 and will cover about 21 states and thus about 13 languages. The study aims to establish student achievement levels and to provide insights into comparative performances of different states, to create cross-learning and remedial opportunities.
