Probably not though we may all acknowledge that education is the critical field in human endeavour.
There are sporadic research efforts in various places that make a difference on a small scale. But EI’s aim is to form a critical mass of people interested in education to conduct basic and advanced but useful research in school education and make a substantial contribution to this field. This should help in improving the quality of education reaching the children and also developing new educational products in tune with the needs of the times.”

Profile of Sales Manager
The Sales Manager will be responsible for coordinating the regional operations of EI. This position involves significant responsibility and high level of target orientation. The current product portfolio of EI includes ASSET - a diagnostic test, Teacher Training, and Curriculum Services.
EI’s main initiative is ASSET- a diagnostic skill-based test that measures “understanding” and provides detailed feedback to children from class 3 to 10 about what their academic strengths and weaknesses are. Over 1.5 lakh students from over 700 schools across India, Middle East, Singapore and Nepal are taking ASSET every year. With a database of 10 million student responses, ASSET is a unique repository of the state of learning in India today.
In terms of teacher training and Curriculum Services there is a tremendous scope for growth which needs to be tapped.
Job Description
- Interacting and building relationships with School Principals, Management and Teachers to create and service the demand for EI offerings.
- Building a team of Educational Advisors who will be the front line of the sales effort.
- Inspiring, leading and coordinating the team to evolve into partners working towards a common goal of school improvement with the school management.
- Take ASSET into the next stage of product growth through penetration in schools of small cities and towns.
- Coordinate with SBU Heads of different products and services to ensure Maximum geographical reach and coverage.

Job Description
- Building a list of schools in your town/ city, periodically visiting them and making presentations regarding ASSET and Teacher Training Programs offered by EI to schools.
- Coordinating between the Schools that sign up with EI to ensure smooth progress of the assessment test, teacher training programs, competitions and other activities. This would involve as an example - collection of lists of participating students, ensuring question papers reach schools, collection of answer sheets and distributing analysis to the schools.
- Following-up on activities conducted in schools and get feedback from students and teachers. This would help EI identify new opportunities that EI can service in the schools.
- Reporting on a regular basis to the Relationship Manager of your region.
- The Regional Manager will assist you and will be available for any training, guidance and support you might need to perform your role effectively.
Desired Profiles
- Good communication skills and an attitude of accepting challenges.
- University Professors with an orientation towards School Education preferred.
- Homemakers who have worked previously and who can devote upto 4 hours a day have been very successful as Advisors.
- Ready to work on a freelance basis. Most of the remuneration is paid in the form of commissions so the potential to earn is unlimited.

- “Willing to work the field” and travel within the city/ town. Having a vehicle would help.

3. Educational Specialists
EI is looking for Educational Specialists in Science and Maths. We are looking for a person who is good at the subject and has a passion to make a difference in Science/ Maths learning at the school level. The role is intellectually highly engaging and involves the following tasks:
- Building simple but discerning questions that check whether a child has really understood!
- Building “Teacher Sheets”- focused 1 page notes that highlight a misconception based on assessment data, and provide teachers tips to address the same
- Analyzing large scale student response data to figure out how children think and learn
- Working on creating new products and services based on the above research that can measurably demonstrate improved learning in children and may transform the way children learn in the future. (One such product we have launched recently in called Mindspark. Check out www.mindspark.in)

4. Teacher Trainers
Educational Initiatives’ mission is to significantly improve the quality of learning in schools the world over by developing innovative, research-based products.
India has a large number of teachers and principals (the practitioners) and it has educational experts (the theorists) - but it probably lacks a layer of educational technologists (those who understand the theory, try it out in practice and modify it). These educational technologists marry a good understanding of theory with a bias for action. EI attempts to provide that layer for India’s educational system.
Apart from ASSET, teacher training is the significant initiative taken up by Educational Initiatives. EI needs full-time and part time trainers in Ahmedabad, Baroda and other metros. Some trainer positions require travel to conduct workshops in different schools across the country.
EI has partnered with some reputed organizations in India as shown below- - With Wipro’s Applying Thought to Schools program for teacher training - With Reliance, to conduct the admission test for Dhirubhai Ambani International School - With Intel Corp., USA to “parameterize” the Indian Class 5 Math curriculum - With the Gujarat Science Academy to organize the Gujarat Science Olympiad - With the TVS Group to help their schools redefine their class 6 curriculum

7. Jr. Software Engineer

8. Management Trainees

9. City Coordinator
EI with the support of Wipro Ltd. is conducting a study of holistic student development in 5 metros namely Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore. The study will cover English medium schools, specifically those which are perceived as ‘good’ schools. The study will try to identify factors or parameters that contribute to the holistic development of students and the extent to which good practices in these contribute to imparting better quality of education.
This study expands a project executed jointly by Wipro and EI in 2005-06 which looked at the quality of student achievement in leading schools in 5 metro cities of India and was published as a cover story in the India Today magazine. While 2005-06 study provide insights into what students are learning well and what they are not, this study would go beyond that scope to include not only the co-scholastic and attitudes/values aspects of education, but also attempt to correlate them with qualitative parameters and learning environments in school.
Profile of City Coordinator:
Job Description:
- To carry out all the tasks required for testing in a standardised manner in all the selected schools in the city.
- To help in recruiting invigilators for the project and handle the invigilators’ team for effectively implementation of the project.
- To liaison with School Management, Principals and Teachers for smooth implementation of the project.
- To assist the research team in activities like data collection, conducting teachers and student interviews etc.
- To handle the logistics issues during the programme implementation in the city.
- To manage distribution and collection of test papers.
- To ensure systematic reporting of daily project activities in the city to the Project manager.
- To help in documentation of the process in the city.
- Show excellent initiative, self motivation and effective planning for successful administration of the project.
Candidate Profile:
- Post Graduate in Management or Social Sciences.
- Graduate with 1-2 years’ experience in field operations.
- Computer proficiency and access to email on daily basis is must.
- Languages Known- English.
